The Bennington County Sheriff’s department, along with Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and Auxiliary, partnered with Head Start/Early Head Start of Bennington County to identify local families who could use some assistance this holiday season providing gifts for their children. Staff from United Counseling Service (UCS)’s Family Support team worked with individuals from the Sheriff’s Department and VFW to shop for and wrap gifts for 100 families with children up to 18 years old.

The “Secret Santa team” purchased gifts based on a list of individual children’s wants this holiday season. The Sheriff’s Department, VFW and Auxiliary organization provided all fundraising efforts for this year’s Secret Santa program. The Secret Santa team will deliver gifts this week using the Head Start/Early Head Start’s bus to ensure families get their gifts before Christmas, with UCS’ Family Support staff making additional deliveries this week as well.

UCS is grateful for the opportunity to help provide support during the holidays to local families in need. Thank you to the Bennington County Sheriff’s Department and the VFW and Auxiliary for organizing this special program for children.
