August 16, 2021 UCS Unveils New Head Start Facility with a Community Celebration UCS Corporate News United Children’s Services invites the public to celebrate the grand opening of the Spring Center at 655 Gage Street in Bennington on Wednesday, August 25, beginning at 2pm. The new facility houses Head Start and Early Head Start for children of Bennington County. Construction of the Spring Center, which is an addition to the Bennington Recreation Center, was a joint project of United Counseling Service, United Children’s Services, and the Town of Bennington. In addition to learning and childcare space, the center has a multipurpose room and a community café. “After a construction delay due to the pandemic, we were able to complete the project only slightly behind schedule,” says Betsy Rathbun-Gunn, Director of Early Childhood Services. “This facility increases the opportunities for young children and their families and expands capacity for programming.” The celebration will include activities, food, tours of the building, and music from Vermont Arts Exchange’s family-friendly Moose Jr. Band. Current Health and safety guidance will be followed. Bennington County Head Start supports early childhood education and development with highly trained teachers, instruction in school readiness skills, commitment to continuous improvement, and a focus on family engagement.
