United Counseling Service (UCS) Honors Staff and Community Partners at Annual Recognition Luncheon

On June 18, United Counseling Service (UCS) proudly celebrated its dedicated staff and valued community partners during the agency’s annual Staff Recognition Luncheon. The event highlighted outstanding achievements, with awards presented for years of service, team excellence, and individual contributions.

“The UCS Staff Appreciation Luncheon is one of our most valued traditions,” said Lorna Mattern, UCS Chief Executive Officer. “It’s a chance to come together and honor the incredible work our staff do every day to support and strengthen our community.”

The Early Childhood Services Management Team received the Team Excellence Award in recognition of their collaborative leadership and commitment to early childhood development.

Several individuals were honored with named awards for exemplary service and dedication:

  • Tim Proud received the Julie Haynes Held Memorial Award, acknowledging his outstanding contributions and embodiment of UCS values.
  • Stephanie Lonergan and Bella Ward were each honored with the Gerrit Kouwenhoven Staff Development Award, named in memory of former UCS Executive Director Gerrit Kouwenhoven, celebrating their commitment to growth and professional development.
  • Jo-Anne Main was awarded the Peter D. Scully Award, commemorating the legacy of former UCS Medical Director Dr. Peter D. Scully and recognizing excellence in clinical service.

In addition, UCS presented Excellence Awards to a number of staff members who have gone above and beyond in their roles. Honorees included:
Tajia La Fountain, Sue Wright, Melissa Hunter, Sarah Paul, Madison Scholander, Sarah Bentley, Suzanna Bibens, Rachel Burnham, Alijah Lanteigne, Carolyn Brown, Casandra Buell, Stacey Ray, Deb Lucey, Chrissy Lorette, Rose LaCroix, and Crystal Coon.

The event also celebrated contributions from within the broader community.
Felipe Stetson, LICSW, was named the recipient of the Cleveland E. and Phyllis B. Dodge Community Service Award, which honors a community member or organization whose support of UCS and its mission has been notable and significant

Meghan Meszkat was presented with the Harold C. “Archie” Warner Memorial Award, which recognizes exceptional contributions to children’s programs. The award commemorates Harold “Archie” Warner, who served on the UCS Board of Directors from 1992 until his passing in 2008. United Counseling Service extends its heartfelt appreciation to all staff and community partners whose dedication and compassion make a meaningful difference every day.
