January 28, 2025 Head Start and Early Head Start of Bennington County accepting applications for summer and fall enrollment Community News, Latest News Head Start and Early Head Start of Bennington County is now enrolling children for summer and fall 2025 . This federally funded early childhood program provides high quality education, as well as health and family support services, to eligible families with children ages six weeks to five years. Children enrolled in Head Start and Early Head Start are engaged in art, literacy, music, dance, language, number concepts, field trips, health and safety, nutrition, gardening, swimming, and outdoor play. Services for families include help with accessing childcare financial assistance, parenting classes and workshops, regular home visits, and referrals to community resources. Families eligible for Head Start or Early Head Start must meet the federal low-income guideline, meaning income must be below federal poverty guidelines, or receive Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), Supplemental Security Income (SSI), or Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). Families experiencing homelessness or with children in the foster care system are also eligible. A small number of community slots are available for families who are not eligible for Head Start or Early Head Start.
