September 26, 2023 UCS Welcomes Kevin Hines to Manchester Community News, Latest News United Counseling Service (UCS) welcomes global public speaker, author, and documentary filmmaker, Kevin Hines, to Burr and Burton Academy’s Riley Center for the Arts on October 19, 2023, at 7:30pm, as part of UCS’ 65th anniversary year. Kevin is known for his story of survival following a jump from the Golden Gate Bridge in 2000. His mission is to share his story of resilience to audiences of all ages. Prior to his live event, UCS will present Kevin’s full length documentary, “Suicide: The Ripple Effect”, on October 4 at 5:30pm at the Manchester Community Library at 138 Cemetery Ave in Manchester, VT. The film shares his story of hope across the globe. Admission for the screening is free. UCS looks forward to welcoming Kevin to southern Vermont during a time of crisis in Bennington County. Mental health and substance use challenges continue to increase in severity, including mental health struggles among student populations in local schools. Along with his speaking engagements, Kevin offers a variety of resources for anyone struggling with mental health challenges, and for those who knows someone struggling. Free copies of his book, The Art of Wellness, is available at kevinhinesstory.com, along with video resources, a toolkit for parents, and a link to Kevin’s Hinesights podcast, which features different mental health topics in each episode. Both events are free and open to the public, tickets are required. Both events are made possible with funding from the Gregory S. Hillman Fund and The Nathan M. Carreira Endowment of the Stratton Community Foundation. Kevin will also be speaking with students at Mount Anthony Union High School on Friday, October 20.
