Big Brothers Big Sisters

Big Brothers Big Sisters

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Bennington County help children reach their potential through mentor supported, one to one relationships. We match children ages 5-14 in need of an adult friend with a carefully screened adult volunteer. The program is prevention oriented with long-term goals and commitments. We envision a successful mentoring relationship for all children who want and need one, contributing to brighter futures, a better school experience and strong communities.Through the personal growth and guidance of a professionally supported, one-to-one relationship, children develop self-confidence and assurance. Adult mentors develop, grow, and have fun, too!

Make a Difference

For a few hours, a couple times a month, you can give a Little the invaluable gift of friendship. We also offer an elementary lunch time program where you have the opportunity to have lunch with your Little weekly. You have an opportunity to impact a child’s life and transform their potential.

Research demonstrates kids who receive mentoring are:
• 46 % less likely to begin using illegal drugs
• 27% less likely to begin using alcohol
• 52% less likely to skip school
• 56% more likely to receive higher grades

Big Brothers Big Sisters needs mentors for children aged 5-14. You can open the doors to a whole new world.

“There’s a lot of kids in need of good role models here. People don’t realize it’s not that much time – an hour per week and it means so much to the kids.”…Kasia Sosnow, BBBS Mentor
