NOTIFICATION OF PERIOD OF PUBLIC COMMENT

Pursuant to 18 V.S.A. § 8907 and the Administrative Rules on Agency Designation, the Vermont Department of Mental Health (DMH) and the Department of Disabilities, Aging and Independent Living (DAIL) hereby notify the public of the Application for Redesignation of United Counseling Service (UCS).

A 14-day period of public comment is provided for DMH and DAIL to gather information about United Counseling Service (UCS) as part of the process to decide whether or not the State of Vermont will renew the agency’s designation to deliver developmental and mental-health services to adults, children, adolescents and families in Bennington County.  Comments from clients, parents, family members and other concerned citizens about your experiences with services provided by UCS are welcomed. Public comments will be accepted for the two-week period from Sunday, March 08, 2026, until the close of business on Saturday, March 21, 2026. In particular, DMH and DAIL are interested in knowing:

  1. Are you filling out this form regarding developmental or mental health services, or for both?
  2. Do you identify as a current or former client, a current or former staff member, or have another affiliation with the agency?
  3. Does UCS work well with other local organizations?
  4. Do people get the mental health and disability services help they need?
  5. Are services provided when people need them?
  6. What does UCS do well?
  7. Do you have ideas for how UCS can improve?
