SUMMARY:Adult Mental Health First Aid Training
DESCRIPTION:Join the more than 2.6 MILLION Mental Health First Aiders who have chosen to be the difference in their community.\nJust as CPR helps even those without clinical training assist an individual having a heart attack\, Mental Health First Aid prepares participants to interact with a person experiencing a mental health crisis. Mental Health First Aiders learn a 5-step Action Plan that guides them through the process of reaching out and offering appropriate support. \nLEARN HOW TO SUPPORT YOUR FRIENDS\, FAMILY AND NEIGHBORS \nAdult Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) teaches you how to identify\, understand and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges among adults. You’ll build skills and confidence needed to reach out and provide initial support to those who are struggling. You’ll also learn how to help connect them to appropriate support. \nAFTER THE COURSE\, YOU WILL BE ABLE TO: \n\nRecognize common signs and symptoms of mental health challenges.\nRecognize common signs and symptoms of substance use challenges.\nUnderstand how to interact with a person in crisis.\nKnow how to connect a person with help.\nUse self-care tools and techniques.\n\n$55 per person. This training requires some preparation work prior to the virtual class. To learn more or to register contact Bob Wiegers at rwiegers@ucsvt.org or call (802) 442-5491.
