Adult Mental Health First Aid Training

January 13, 2023 @ 8:30 am - 3:00 pm

$55.00
5 people standing against a wall and having a conversation.

Join the more than 2.6 MILLION Mental Health First Aiders who have chosen to be the difference in their community.

Just as CPR helps even those without clinical training assist an individual having a heart attack, Mental Health First Aid prepares participants to interact with a person experiencing a mental health crisis. Mental Health First Aiders learn a 5-step Action Plan that guides them through the process of reaching out and offering appropriate support.

LEARN HOW TO SUPPORT YOUR FRIENDS, FAMILY AND NEIGHBORS

Adult Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) teaches you how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges among adults. You’ll build skills and confidence needed to reach out and provide initial support to those who are struggling. You’ll also learn how to help connect them to appropriate support.

AFTER THE COURSE, YOU WILL BE ABLE TO:

  • Recognize common signs and symptoms of mental health challenges.
  • Recognize common signs and symptoms of substance use challenges.
  • Understand how to interact with a person in crisis.
  • Know how to connect a person with help.
  • Use self-care tools and techniques.

$55 per person. This training requires some preparation work prior to the virtual class. To learn more or to register contact Bob Wiegers at rwiegers@ucsvt.org or call (802) 442-5491.
