Become a Shared Living Provider with UCS

Community News, Latest News

Earn tax-free income while making a meaningful difference in someone’s life.

United Counseling Service (UCS) seeks compassionate individuals, couples, and families in Bennington County, Vermont, or nearby towns in New York and Massachusetts, to open their homes and hearts as Shared Living Providers (SLPs).

What is Shared Living?

Our Shared Living Program provides personalized home support for individuals with intellectual disabilities and/or autism spectrum disorder. SLPs offer safe, caring, and stable home environments, helping community members with developmental disabilities live fulfilling and independent lives.

SLPs receive:

  • A monthly tax-free stipend
  • Room and board payments from the individual
  • Respite funds (financial assistance to provide temporary relief to caregivers) to support time off and life balance.
  • Ongoing case management and optional Community Supports and Employment Connections

Many of our providers form lifelong bonds — some have been sharing their homes for over 25 years!

Current Opportunity

UCS seeks a caring home for a male with a developmental disability. Interested in becoming a Shared Living Provider? More information below:

UCS seeks a mother-in-law apartment or shared home for a male individual with a developmental disability who is an active member of the community. This client enjoys getting out and about, kayaking, spending time outdoors, engaging in meaningful relationships, and hanging out with his friends, listening to music, and participating in community events. He is independent with personal care and does not require 24/7 supervision.

A Shared Living Provider who can provide emotional support and skill building tools would be an excellent fit!
