Board of Directors

The Role of the Board

UCS is governed by a Board of Directors — a minimum of nine residents of Bennington County and/or Rensselaer County, New York. It is the board’s responsibility to assure that the agency provides comprehensive services to all residents in the service area, regardless of the client’s ability to pay. Much of the work of the board is done by its committees.

Each year, the Board embarks on its Annual Fund campaign, with the goal of bringing in additional income to support UCS’s ever-expanding programs and services and help ensure ongoing access to all who need it. This campaign of outreach to individuals and corporations, managed by our Community Relations Department, depends on active involvement of UCS’ board members and key agency staff.

The Board closely monitors the quality of service that UCS provides. So does the Vermont Agency of Human Services, federal representatives, state auditors, and the Council on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities.
