Substance Use Services

Our treatment services include family and group therapy, education, and individual and relationship counseling. UCS also offers education and prevention resources on the risks of IV drug use and the link between substance abuse and communicable diseases like HIV. We collaborate closely with community partners and self-help groups such as Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, Al-Anon, the Turning Point Recovery Center, AIDS Project of Southern Vermont, and Blueprint for Health to support comprehensive recovery.

UCS provides training and consultation on a wide range of topics, available at our facilities or directly within the community.

Through the CHESS Health app, clients can connect with a broad peer community and access peer support specialists around the clock. This platform offers a full suite of digital tools and human support designed to deliver patient-centered care for substance use disorders, mental health, and social needs—all right from a smartphone. Clients benefit from resources that help reduce isolation, boost motivation and confidence, and support them in following their treatment and recovery plans.

Our harm reduction kits help lower the risk of opioid overdose, raise awareness about treatment and recovery options, and encourage individuals to seek support. These kits are free and available in the main lobby at 100 Ledge Hill Drive, Bennington, VT.

Each kit includes:

  • Two doses of Narcan
  • Fentanyl test strips
  • A CPR mouth shield
  • Information on local resources

Stop by to pick up a kit and take an important step toward safety and support.

Our individual and group therapy, along with case management services, work in partnership with each person to support meaningful change and help them achieve their personal goals for a healthier, more fulfilling life.

Our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) takes a comprehensive approach, addressing multiple factors at once to support participants in achieving sobriety and improving daily life. The program blends group, individual, and family therapy with case management, and integrates proven tools like the Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP), Collaborative Network Approach (CNA), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and more. IOP is offered at least 3 hours per day, totaling a minimum of 9 hours each week.

UCS offers Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) through Vermont’s Blueprint for Health Spoke program to support individuals with substance use disorders. MAT combines carefully managed medication with therapy to help people detoxify safely, lower their risk of overdose, and build a foundation for long-term recovery.
