Teens for Change Visit Statehouse and Participate in Youth in Transition Advocacy Day
The Bennington based Teens for Change group traveled to Montpelier to participate in a Youth In Transition program advocacy day on January 30th. Three members of the group made the trip and were able to have breakfast with the legislators, attend a house meeting with representatives, and take a tour of the Capitol.
Following the events at the State House, Teens for Change collaborated with ‘Diversity Rocks International Youth Group’ by participating in an Ethics, Values & Boundaries presentation. The event, facilitated by Hanna Rose from the Vermont Association of Mental Health & Addiction Recovery, helped the teens learn more about their personal boundaries and how it can impact their lives.
The Governor’s proposed budget for FY16 includes a reduction in funds of $264,920 to services provided under the Youth in Transition Federal Grant and Teens for Change appreciated the opportunity to advocate on their behalf for the continued support of their program.
