Group Becomes First Vermont Chapter of the
Youth M.O.V.E National Organization
Bennington, VT – The Teens 4 Change youth group has joined a national network of youth advocates and chapters by becoming the first Vermont chapter of the Youth M.O.V.E National organization. The national accreditation adds to the long list of accomplishments for Teens 4 Change, a program that is widely recognized as a model for youth engagement in the state of Vermont, throughout the duration of their six year history.
“To become a nationally accredited chapter of Youth M.O.V.E, and the first chapter in Vermont is a huge accomplish for the youth in Teens 4 Change,” said UCS Youth Outreach Coordinator and founder of Teens 4 Change Katrina Hollis. “Inclusion in this national organization will allow Teens 4 Change to build on past success to support the development of a positive youth culture in Bennington.”
Youth M.O.V.E (Motivating Others through Voices of Experience) is a youth led national organization working to unite the voices and causes of youth while raising awareness around youth issues, ultimately empowering youth to be partners in the change. With over eighty chapters nationwide, Youth M.O.V.E. can now count Vermont as a state with an active member contributing to their organization.
“Our teens have shown a real commitment to making a difference in the community, with great projects like the Youth Summit, downtown cleanups, and participation in community events. Joining Youth M.O.V.E. will only continue to enhance the energy in this group to make a difference,” said UCS Youth Outreach Worker Henry Kelly-Mattern.
Teens 4 Change is a youth group supported by United Counseling Service, with over two dozen active youth participating at any given time. The group provides opportunities for youth to gain self-esteem, self-worth, and valuable life skills through a multitude of youth driven activities. The groups influence has expanded through partnerships with local organizations and participation in events and training opportunities to enhance involvement.
